ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The Hamline University women's lacrosse team showed no signs of slowing down on Friday evening, cruising to its eighth consecutive victory with a 19-8 win over MSOE. The Pipers (7-0) utilized an explosive 10-goal first quarter to seize control early, maintaining their unblemished record as they move into the heart of their March schedule.
Hamline's offense was firing on all cylinders from the opening draw. outshooting the Raiders 17-7 in the first 15 minutes.
Lauren Moorhouse sparked the run just 46 seconds into the game, followed quickly by
Reagan Zywicki. Hamline showcased a balanced attack as
Aoi Suzuki,
Emma Collins, and
Ema Rehder all found the back of the net in the opening frame. By the time Zywicki notched her fourth goal of the quarter at the 2:52 mark, the Pipers had established a commanding seven-goal cushion.
The Raiders managed to slow the pace in the second period, led by Chloe Ninmann, who scored twice to help MSOE narrow the gap slightly. However, the Pipers maintained their poise;
Kayli Starkey netted an unassisted tally, and Rehder capitalized on a man-up opportunity with just 35 seconds remaining in the half to send Hamline into the locker room with a 12-6 lead.
Hamline's defense locked down in the third, allowing only one goal while the offense regained its rhythm. The Pipers opened the half with five straight goals, including back-to-back scores from Moorhouse and unassisted tallies from Collins and Zywicki. Rehder added her third goal of the game at the 4:14 mark, extending the lead to 17-6.
With a double-digit lead and the clock running, the Pipers focused on ball control. Moorhouse continued her dominant performance, adding two more goals—both assisted by Starkey—to put the game out of reach. MSOE added a late consolation goal in the final seconds to bring the final score to 19-8.
