GAME ONE
ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Hamline University baseball team fell to Carleton College 5-1 on Monday at CHS Field. The Pipers, with a record of 8-12 and 0-3 in the conference, managed just three hits in the game. Carleton, holding a 5-10 record and 3-0 in conference play, capitalized on seven hits, including three doubles.
Carleton took an early lead in the first inning. Nathan Barnhart doubled to left center, followed by Adam Rubin walking. Will Schnepf singled to right field, bringing in Barnhart for the first run, and a sacrifice fly by Sam Chutkow added another, putting Carleton ahead 2-0 after the first inning.
In the fifth inning, Carleton extended its lead. Barnhart was hit by a pitch, and Rubin singled, setting the stage for a two-run double by Chutkow, which brought the score to 5-0 in favor of Carleton.
Hamline responded in the sixth inning when
Owen Hodson was hit by a pitch and stole second. Hodson advanced to third on a flyout and then scored on a
Jack Rheineck groundout, narrowing the gap to 5-1 by the end of the sixth inning.

Hans Christensen pitched a complete game, throwing 7 innings with four strikeouts and allowing five earned runs. Alex Hokenson managed to record a hit and drew a walk, finishing with an OPS of 1.167.

Hamline defeated Carleton in a decisive performance. The scoring began in the second inning when
Jacob Barmore scored on an error by the catcher, followed by an RBI single from
Maddex Van Slooten, bringing Hamline to a 2-1 lead.
In the third inning,
Ryan Burley doubled to right field, driving in
Owen Hodson, which increased the lead to 3-1.
The Pipers widened the gap in the fourth inning with
Grant Peltier scoring on a sacrifice fly by Hodson, and Burley delivering a two-RBI single to push the score to 6-1.
The fifth inning saw Hamline extend its lead further when Barmore tripled, bringing in Alex Hokenson, and subsequent plays added two more runs, making it 9-1.
Carleton managed a run in the sixth, but Hamline responded with a sacrifice fly from Peltier, maintaining a comfortable 10-2 advantage.
In the seventh inning, despite Carleton's three runs, the Pipers capitalized on a series of errors and a hit-by-pitch to add four more runs, securing a 14-5 lead.
Hamline added a final run in the eighth when Burley singled to center field, scoring Hodson, and sealing the win at 15-5.
