ARDEN HILLS, Minn. — The Hamline University women's tennis team (11-9) fell to No. 29 Bethel University (19-2) with a final score of 0-4 on Tuesday at the Ona Orth Complex. The match saw Bethel secure victories in both singles and doubles play, clinching the win without dropping a match.
Hamline fell short in securing the doubles point as Bethel took victories at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.
Vanessa Pham and
Chloe Reyes were defeated 6-1 by Lauryn Douglas and Michaella Sullivan at No. 1 doubles. Meanwhile,
Emily Dreger and
Gabi Newton suffered a 6-0 loss to Claire Keller and Bryna Eigenfeld at No. 3 doubles. The match at No. 2 doubles, featuring
Elanna Kohner and Chrissa Muller, was left unfinished with the Pipers leading 4-1.
In singles competition, Bethel quickly extended its lead as Michaella Sullivan won with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Reyes at No. 2 singles. Lauryn Douglas won a 6-0, 6-0 win match against Pham at No. 1 singles, securing another point for Bethel.
Emily Dreger was defeated by Malia McKinnon 6-1, 6-1 to clinch the victory for the Royals. The final dual score was 4-0 in favor of Bethel.
The Pipers ended their historic season 11-9 overall, 4-6 in conference play.
