Records Fall In Historic 26-0 Shutout of Auggies

SAINT PAUL, Minn. --- Hamline University put on a clinic in offensive efficiency and defensive grit on Friday, systematically dismantling Augsburg University in a 26-0 performance that was over almost as soon as it began, led by Emma Collins with 8 goals and 3 assists. From the opening draw, the Pipers dictated every facet of the game, utilizing a relentless transition attack and a stifling ride to keep the Auggies pinned in their own half for the vast majority of the afternoon.

The onslaught started just forty-one seconds into the first quarter when Kayli Starkey found the back of the net off a feed from Emma Collins, setting the stage for what would be a career day for both players. Hamline's dominance in the draw circle, led largely by Reagan Zywicki and Lauren Moorhouse, allowed the Pipers to put together a staggering 11-goal first-period surge. By the time Emma Collins buried a pass from Emma Halweg with less than a minute left in the opening frame, the Pipers had already established a double-digit lead and forced Augsburg into an early timeout to search for answers.

Augsburg attempted to find a spark in the second quarter by making a change in goal, but the Pipers' momentum proved impossible to stall. Emma Collins and Reagan Zywicki continued to spearhead the attack, while Ella Dallmann and Emma Halweg displayed clinical finishing to extend the lead to 15-0 by halftime. On the rare occasions the Auggies managed to break through the midfield, Hamline goalkeeper Sophie Thompson stood tall, turning away several free-position opportunities to preserve the clean sheet and keep the momentum firmly on the side of the home team.

The second half was a continuation of the Hamline masterclass. The third quarter saw Emma Collins complete an incredible scoring run, finding the net four times in the period alone as she consistently exploited gaps in the Augsburg zone. Harmony Wegler also joined the scoring column, while Ema Rehder and Emma Halweg continued to facilitate the offense with high-level vision and precision passing.

In the final fifteen minutes, Hamline's depth was on full display as the Pipers added five more goals to finalize the 26-0 scoreline. Lauren Moorhouse and Emma Halweg remained active until the final whistle, while the Pipers' defense remained perfect, denying every Augsburg attempt to spoil the shutout. It was a statement win for Hamline, defined by a balanced scoring attack that saw nearly every offensive contributor find the stat sheet and a defensive unit that refused to give an inch of ground.

The Pipers dropped 7 new record numbers once all said and done, including Kayli Starkey adding another broken record to her outstanding season, now holding the record for most assists in a single season with 38! (and still counting!)
