Brian Sheehan

Brian Sheehan joined the Piper football coaching staff on April 5, 2016. But the Cleveland, Ohio native is well acquainted with success at the D-III level.

Sheehan comes to the Pipers after four seasons as the head coach at Defiance. He served as the Yellow Jackets’ offensive coordinator as well. Brian will work with the Piper offensive line and serve as the team's recruiting coordinator.

During his tenure there, the Yellow Jackets had 54 players earn All-Conference honors. His 2014 team was an offensive machine, setting several school records, including garnering 616 yards total offense and 30 first downs in a game against Earlham. The Yellow Jackets also set a record for interceptions returned for a touchdown and earned the largest comeback win for the school in 15 years, rallying from a 19-point deficit

Prior to coming to Defiance, Sheehan spent five seasons as the offensive coordinator at Thomas More (Ky.) College, where he helped lead the Saints to President’s Athletic Conference Championships and a spot in the NCAA Division III Playoffs in each of his final four seasons with the program. The Saints set several school offensive records that still stand today and qualified for the NCAA D-III playoffs four times.  The Saints scored 33.8 points per game in 2011, behind 199.7 rushing yards per outing and averaged 32.7 points per game from 2009 through 2011.

Brian also spent two seasons as the wide receivers/strength coach at Hobart (NY) College, The Statesmen went 17-4 during his time there, advancing to the postseason both years. Brian started his coaching career at Heidelberg (Ohio) College.

Sheehan earned undergraduate degrees in psychology and business management in 2003 from Marietta College while serving as a three-year starter at the tight end position with the Pioneers. Sheehan started on both offense and defense and was a team captain for the squad during his senior season.
