Chris Hartman is an assistant athletic director at Hamline, overseeing game management,. The 2014 season with his 13th as the strength and conditioning coach for the school. Hartman served in the same role for the University of Minnesota football team from 1995-2001.

In his role as assistant athletic director, Hartman has direct oversight responsibility for event management and the work study program.

Hartman has been the strength and conditioning coach for Hamline's 19 NCAA Division III teams since the 2001-2002 academic year.  In addition, he served as the interim director of athletics during the latter portion of the 2007-08 academic year.

Previously, Hartman served as strength and conditioning coach for the University of Minnesota football team from 1995-2001. He was named Big 10 Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year in 1998. Prior to joining the Gophers, he was an assistant at Stanford University for one season, and head strength coach for the San Diego Chargers for two seasons.  

As a student-athlete, he was a three-year starter and four-year letterman in football at Bowling Green State University (Ohio) from 1982-1985. He competed in two bowl games and was named captain and All-Conference his senior year.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in education from Bowling Green State in 1987. He earned his master’s degree in education from United States International University (San Diego, Calif.) in 1989. Hartman and his wife, Karen, have three sons - Jared, Steven, and Kevin.
