Tim Yourison

Tim Yourison joined the Piper football coaching staff on January 27, 2019 and is in his second season during the 2020-21 academic year. The Madison, Wisconsin native is very well acquainted with D-III football and will be the team’s defensive coordinator.

Yourison comes to HU after spending the last four seasons at Aurora University (Ill.) where he was the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach, as well as coordinating all recruiting efforts for the program.

During his tenure at AU, the Spartans had 23 players earn All-Conference honors on the defensive side of the ball. The 2017 and 2018 teams led the NACC in scoring defense, while the program shared the conference title in 2016. In 2017, Yourison coached a linebacker that was named the Defensive Player of the Year in the conference.

Prior to coaching at Aurora, Yourison spent seven seasons in multiple roles at Austin College in Sherman, Texas. In his first five seasons there, he coached the defensive backs, defensive line and linebackers, while coordinating all special teams. The last two seasons with the ‘Roos, Yourison coached the wide receivers and tight ends while serving as the assistant head coach.

Yourison also spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at Western Illinois University, earning his master’s degree in Exercise Physiology. He earned an undergraduate degree in Exercise Science in 2006 from Luther College, while also playing football for the Norse.
