Emily Cripea former player at Seton Hall, was named the head women's soccer coach at Hamline University on April 12, 2017 and will begin her sixth season (24-40-5, five seasons) on the bench in 2022.

"We are very excited to have Emily as part of the HU family. She stood out among a very talented group of candidates," said HU athletic director Jason Verdugo. "Emily has a strong skill set that is only enhanced by her affiliation with the most accomplished women's soccer program in the country, in addition to her profound research."

Her initial team at Hamline made a spirited run for a playoff spot en route to a final overall mark of 8-8-2. Towards the beginning of the season HU won five of six games, including a first-ever triumph over Macalester.

Cripe came to Hamline after previous stops at her alma mater and, most recently, D-I women's soccer power North Carolina.

The St. Paul, Minn. native attended Cretin-Derham Hall High School before heading east for college. She was a three-year regular for the Pirates, captaining the team in her senior season. She graduated in 2005 with a degree in Journalism. Since then, Cripe has earned her Master’s in Strategic Communications from Seton Hall and her doctorate in Leadership from the University of St. Thomas.

Cripe spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Seton before returning to the Twin Cities to coach at Minnesota Thunder Academy, working with many age levels. She also has been an assistant coach at two different MIAC schools.

Among her achievements was coaching the 2015 U16 and U17 ECNL North American League champions. During her time at Minnesota Thunder Academy, several of her student-athletes committed to Division I schools such as Minnesota, Michigan, and Florida State. She also mentored players who went on to play at D-III Washington University of St. Louis and MIT.

In 2015, she joined North Carolina as a performance analyst, coding film for statistics, scouting opponents, and helping to facilitate training sessions. The Tar Heels were a Final Four participant in 2016.

On top of Cripe’s coaching duties, she also serves as the department’s Senior Women’s Administrator.
