Victor Lara and Parker Johnson each won twice as Hamline sunk Macalester, 133-115, in a dual meet Saturday at Bush Pool.Â
Lara led a 1-2-3 Piper finish in the 200 Freestyle, winning in 1:50.90. Joe Campbell and Zach Bloom followed him closely. Later, the senior led another 1-2-3 HU finish in the 100 Free, finishing in 49.95 seconds. (Logan Erickson and Derek Jones were next.)Â
Johnson started his day with a first in the 100 Backstroke (56.70) and returned to do the same thing in the 200 Backstroke (2:07.79). In both races, Cole Plumber was his nearest pursuer.Â
Other winners on the day were: Hodd Gorman (pictured, left), winning the 1650 Freestyle by nearly two minutes in a time of 17:24.15; Connor Benson edging teammate Jack Stoltz in the 100 Breaststroke (1:04.35) ; Ethan Ross in the 200 Butterfly (2:00.63); Jones leading a 1-2-3 finish in the 50 Freestyle (22.63) and a 1-2 finish in the 200 Medley Relay.Â
The men are idle next weekend. They get to test the waters at the site of where next month's MIAC Championships will take place when the compete in the University of Minnesota challenge at the Gophers' pool on February 5-6.
