Don't let that smiling face fool you. When she puts the mask and plays goal for the HU women's hockey team, Mary Shefveland is all business. The junior was in fine form last weekend as she earned her first career colle shutout, brushing aside 29 shots in the Pipers' 4-0 win over St. Benedict last Friday at Oscar Johnson Arena.

The Maple Grove, Minn. native was a thoroughbred from the start to finish. Helped by a 3-0 lead in the first six minutes of play, Sheveland made sure the Blazers stayed in arrears all night. She kicked out 12 shots in the first period, seven in the second and 10 more in the third to backstop the Pipers to their fourth win of the season. 

She was also stingy the night before as made a season high 38 saves in a 3-2 OT loss at St. Cloud.

Shefveland and the Pipers return to action this weekend with a home and home series against Augsburg. The teams play Friday night in Minneapolis and Saturday at Oscar Johnson Arena. Both games start at 7:00 p.m.
