It was a prime time performance worthy of a prime time game. Luke Trudell, a junior linebacker, was a major reason why the Carleton Knights were limited to 216 yards total offense and only held the ball form 24 minutes in Hamline's 30-19 win at Klas Field Saturday night.Â
The Germantown, Wis. native had a game high 11 tackles (four solos) and a pair of pass breakups in leading the defensive effort. It was the second double digit tackle game this season for the 5-10, 185 pounder, who leads the Piper defense with 35 tackles.Â
One of Trudell's big plays came in the second quarter. HU led 12-6 but the Knights were driving. Trudell broke up a 3rd down pass to force a punt. In the fourth quarter, he did it again on a third down play that basically ended the last Carleton drive of the game. The win evened Hamline's record at 2-2 overall and their MIAC mark at 1-1.Â
Trudell and the Pipers wil look to string together another defensive effort Saturday, October 7 when they travel to St. Olaf. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
