Box Score Hamline's football team picked the wrong day to visit Moorhead. Concordia, smarting from a last-second loss last week at Bethel, started fast and never stopped en route to a 63-14 victory over the Pipers.
Austin Duncan continued to impress, scoring both Piper TDs -- one in the third quarter on a two yard run and another in the fourth quarter on a 11 yard pass from
Kevin Ackerley.
But the Pipers finished with just 156 yards total offense and ran into an old bugaboo, losing three fumbles to fall 1-5 on the season, 0-5 in the MIAC. Concordia, meanwhile, sprinted to a 14-0 first quarter lead and stretched it to 35-0 at halftime.
John Broback had a big day punting, nailing three 50+yarders and finishing with a gaudy 47.0 average.
Patrick Page and
Matt Wildes led the HU defense with six tackles each.
Hamline returns to Klas Field next week to host league leader (and no. 3 in the country) St. Thomas. Game time is 1:10 p.m.
