The top three scorers in the conference face off this afternoon when Hamline's women's basketball team travels to Moorhead to face the talented Cobbers in a 1:00 p.m. game.

The Pipers are tied with St. Olaf for the league's last playoff spot with a 4-5 MIAC mark (4-7 overall) as the season inches toward the halfway mark. But it is only a one-game edge over Augsburg and Macalester. Meanwhile, Concordia is hearkening back to its past glory days in women's hoops. The Cobbers and Gustavus are tied for second place in the league with 8-1 standards, a game behind undefeated St. Thomas.

Hamline enters the game with the top two scorers in the league. Steph Pilgrim has been a blazin' lately, scoring 117 in her last five games to take over the league lead at 16.2 points per game.Pilgrim ranks 22nd in the country in three point shots made at 2.75 per game. (As a team, HU is 41st at 6.3 per game.)

Pilgrim'srunning mate, Jordan Sammons, is close behind in league scoring at 15.8 ppg. Sammons also ranks third in the league in rebounds at 7.8 per game. Her 3.17 steals per game ranks 67th nationally.

But they will have to contend with Concordia's Tricia Sorenson, who has sparked the current six-game winning streak with a 14.8 point per game average. She had 15 points Wednesday as the Cobbers subdued St. Benedict, 81-68.

After Saturday's game, the Pipers can finally unpack for a while and get used to home cooking. The luck of the draw has seen them play just four times so far this year at historic Hutton Arena. They start a three-game homestand against St. Benedict on Wednesday, January 16.
