Pipers Tie Up Auggies Again

1/19/2013 11:11:00 PM

Box Score Nice timing, Joel Scatterelli. Your first goal of the season 5:39 into the third period lifted the HU men's hockey team to a second straight tie with Augsburg. This time, it was a 2-2 draw at Augsburg Arena. On Friday, the teams skated to a 1-1 deadlock.

It was the equivalent of weekend split as Hamline moved to 1-14-4 overall, 1-7-1 in the MIAC.

Matt Hemingway was very sharp again, swatting away 33 shots. He was beaten twice inthe second period but held firm the rest of the way.

Kevin Novakovich had the other HU goal early in the second frame.

After Scatterelli finished off a three-way play with Chris Hoffman and Joe Rubbelketoe tie things up for a second time, HU dictated the flow, outshooting the Auggies, 15-6, in that third period. In the OT, each team had three cracks to no avail.

Hamline returns to action next weekend with a home and home series against St. John's. The teams meet Friday night in Vadnais Heights at 7:15 p.m.
