This time, it was the Hamline men's basketball team that had the second half explosion. Down 40-31 at intermission, the Pipers tore out of the gate on a 16-3 run in the first six minutes of the second stanza and went on to defeat Macalester, 73-67, at Hutton Arena.
Dior Ford rang in 11 of his game high 20 points and
Noah Aguirre contributed 17 of his 18 markers to up the Pipers' record to 5-10 in the MIAC, 8-12 overall.
It was a game of diverse halves. In the first part, the Scots came out winging, connecting on 58 per cent of their shots to take a 40-31 lead at the midway point.
The Pipers' turn came in the second half. Aguirre had seven and Ford hit a pair of baskets to turn the nine-point deficit into a 47-43 lead with 14:16 left. The Scots did forge a tie at 62-all with 4:30 to play only to see Aguirre score twice and
Ryan Welsh once in a two-minute span that turned the tide for good.
