Piper Women's BB Team Hosts Wildcats

1/7/2013 12:25:00 PM

The last time Hamline and St. Catherine faced each other at Hutton Arena, they gave the scoreboard a workout.

The Pipers and Wildcats will see if history repeats itself tonight when they tangle in a 7:30 p.m. affair. Although nobody is expecting a repeart of last year's wild 106-100 double overtime victory for the Pipers, the beauty of athletics is you never know what to expect.

Hamline (3-3 MIAC, 3-7 overall) is looking to get back on the right shoe after an 87-57 loss Saturday at Gustavus. Steph Pilgrim scored 24 points to move into second place (behind teammate Jordan Sammons) among MIAC scorers. It was four points of her career high set in last year's season finale at Macalester.

Pilgrim wasn't the only notable senior Saturday in St. Peter. Kara Poirier had a pair of assists to move past the 200 mark for her career.

The Wildcats may be 0-7 in the MIAC (1-9 overall) but they put up a stiff fight before falling 66-52 last Saturday to St. Benedict. Sean Pinkerton recently had the interim title removed from his nameplate and is now officially in full charge of rebuiding the team as head coach.

This is the first of three games this week for the Pipers. On Wednesday, January 9 they play at St. Olaf. Next Saturday (Jan. 12), they travel to Moorhead to face Concordia.
