El-Araby Erupts For Long TD Against No. 5 Royals

11/2/2013 5:04:00 PM

Box Score Add Naji El-Araby to the list of potential weapons for the Hamline football team. The freshman from Blaine, MN sprinted 67 yards for a TD -- the longest HU running play this season -- for the Pipers' lone score in a 55-6 loss to No. 5 Bethel Saturday at Klas Field.

Austin Duncan continued to inch towards a school rushing record with 101 yards on 28 carries. The sophomore leads the MIAC with 1148 yards on the ground -- 142 shy of Eric Johnson's standard set in 1996.

The No. 5 rated Royals showed the Parents Day crowd why when they scored the first five times they had the ball. Hamline was able to move the ball at times, gaining 252 total yards, including 176 on the ground.

With the four newest members of the school's Hall of Fame in attendance, El-Araby (pictured) howed some real speed when he took a handoff, cut left and bolted for the TD in the final minute of the first half. The speedster, who plays wide receiver and occasionally in the backfield, also owns the team's longest passing play -- an 83 yarder for a score at St. Olaf, October 12.

On defense, Anthony Hill recorded a dozen stops to run his season total to 100, the most by a Piper since Tyler Schultz had 98 a decade ago.

Hamline fell to 2-6 overall, 1-6 in the MIAC. They wrap up conference play next Saturday, November 9 at St. John's. The season finale is November 16 at Macalester.
