These teams opened the season against each other October 26 in Blaine with the Gusties scraping out a 2-0 win. Picked by the coaches to finish second in the annual preseason poll, the Gusties find themselves tied for seventh with Augsburg with a 3-5-2 mark (9-7-2 overall). Although they have been good defensively (G Tyler Venne ranks 4th in the league in goals-against and is fifth in save percentage), GAC has struggled to find goals. They have managed just 23 in 10 league games.
Hamline comes into this final Twin Cities appearance with a 1-15-5 overall (1-8-3 MIAC) record.
Tyler Johnson'sdramatic last-minute goal lifted HU into a 1-1 tie with St. John's on Friday night in Vadnais Heights. It was deja vu for two periods the next night in St. Cloud. SJU suddenly busted loose for four third period goals (one into an empty net) for a 5-1 win.
The teams will meet in St. Peter on Saturday, February 2 at 7:05 p.m. Hamline wraps up the season next weekend at Concordia.
