Women's Hockey Takes On Wildcats

2/15/2013 10:55:00 AM

For the second weekend in a row, Hamline's women's hockey team plays both its games in St. Paul. This time, however, they will do it in separate arenas.

The Pipers meet St. Catharine in a home and home series. The teams face off Friday, February 15 at Drake Arena in a 7:00 p.m. game. The rematch is at Warner Coliseum on Saturday, February 16 at 1:00 p.m.

The two teams know each other already. Last November 3, Hamline (5-12-4 overall, 2-10-2 MIAC) earned its first win of the season with a 2-0 non-conference decision over the Wildcats at Vadnais Heights. Sarah Schneekloth kicked away all 47 shots sent her way. Ashley Maskel and Kendra Krause provided the offensive punch with goals in the second and third period respectively.

HU is coming off dropping a pair of 2-1 games to Concordia (the latter was in OT) last weekend at Warner Coliseum. The Pipers have been involved in tight games all year. 18 of th elast 19 games they have played have been decided by two goals or less.

The Wildcats (8-11-2, 5-7-2) are clinging by a thread to postseason hopes. SCU enters the weekend in sixth place, three points behind St. Olaf, who currently has the playoff spot. The two teams face each other next week in the final games of the season. So it is imperative for SCU to stay within three points of the Oles.
