Box Score For the last 44 minutes of the game, Hamline's women hockey team shut high scoring Concordia down cold.
Unfortunately, they gave up two goals in the first 16 minutes and that was just enough to get pinned with a 2-1 loss Friday night at Warner Coliseum.
The Cobbers, seeking to hold onto third place in the league, connected in the first two minutes of play and again on a power play at 15:41 for an early 2-0 edge.
HU came out with a vengeance in the second period, finally being rewarded for their effort when
Haley Johnson (5) fished the puck out of a scrum in front of the net and fired it home at 11:55 on a power play.
That was the end of the scoring.
The Pipers had a late chance when goalie
Sarah Schneekloth, who had 38 saves on the night, was pulled for a sixth attacker with 1:38 to go. They were aided by a late penalty on the Cobbers and came close but could not get the equalizer.
Hamline fell to 5-11-4 (2-9-2 in the MIAC) with the verdict.
The same teams meet Saturday at Warner at 2:00 p.m.
