Sam Stark should sleep well tonight. 55 saves in a game is quite a day's work.
Stark, who stopped 39 in Friday's 1-1 OT tie with undefeated St. Thomas was barraged again in a 5-1 loss at St. Thomas Academy Arena Saturday afternoon. The Northfield, MN native kicked aside all 20 shots she saw in the first period. She handled 23 in the second and another dozen in the third.
After giving up a goal early in the second period, she held firm until Nina Chase tied the game for Hamline at 15:15. But UST untied the game 59 seconds later and connected again later in the period.
They added two more in the third period to drop HU to 3-10-2 overall, 0-8-2 in the MIAC.The Pipers had more offense than the night before -- they garnered 25 shots, including 14 in the third period alone.
Hamline travels to Concordia next weekend for a two-game series. The teams play Friday night in Moorhead at 7:00 p.m. and come back Saturday for a 2:00 p.m. game.
