1/31/2014 9:50:00 PM

Box Score The Hamline men's hockey team was 7.6 seconds away from making history. But Caleb Suderman scored his second goal of the game to lift Concordia to a 2-1 OT victory over the Pipers Friday night at Oscar Johnson Arena.

Dan Bartkowiak (at left) gave the Pipers the early lead when he finished off a three-way passing play with Parsa Monsef and Chris Williford 15:22 into the game.

Hamline had plenty of gas in the first two sessions, holding their own in  shots on goal and the tenor of play. The Cobbers tied the game in the final minute of the second period on a power play tally.

HU goalie John Sellie-Hanson was superb all night, making 32 saves. He stopped 15 shots in the third periof to help send the game into the extra session. HU had the early chances in the OT. The Cobbers replied in kind but it looked like the game was headed to a shootout for the first time in school history.

But CC had the last word in the waning seconds and the Pipers dropped to 2-15-1 overall.

But the beauty of the MIAC schedule is you get a another chance the next day. So it is Hamline will try to even the weekend results when they host the Cobbers Saturday. Game time is 2:05 p.m.
