Piper Women BB Lose To Bethel, 70-57

Box Score It was a hotly contested game that saw each team snare 23 baskets and four three pointers. One team held a four rebound edge while the other had four fewer turnovers. 

But the Bethel Royals took advantage of huge edge at the free throw line for a 70-57 victory over Hamline's women's basketball team Saturday at Hutton Arena.

The Pipers (6-15 overall, 5-15 MIAC) connected on all seven of its tosses. But the Royals hit on 20 of 35 efforts and pulled away at the finish.

Jordan Sammons scored 16 points and had a team high nine rebounds while Chloe Graves (pictured) added 10 and five boards. 

The first half set the tone for the afternoon. The lead changed hands six times and there were five ties. By the end of the 20 minute session, Hamline had a 30-29 edge. They were able to push that lead to six early in the second session only to see BU come back and knot the game at 46 with 9:33 remaining. The Royals scored the next seven points and seemed to take command of the game.

Hamline, however, didn't cave in. Je'Naya Brown, who scored ine points, hit a jumper to cut the lead to a single point with 4:34 left. Bethel turned the game in their direction by scoring the final 12 points for the win. 

The Pipers return to action Wednesday agianst Augsburg. Game time at Hutton Arena is 7:30 p.m.
