Jordan Verleye's unassisted goal 1:51 into overtime lifted Hamline to a 3-2 win over St. Olaf in Northfield Friday night.
Mary Shefveland was superb in goal for HU, recording 28 saves, including 16 in a hectic third period.
Hamline improved to 1-5-1 in MIAC action, 3-10-1 overall.
It took the Pipers a long time to get the offense going. St. Olaf had the oone goal of the first two periods of play.
Chelsea Koehn deadlocked the game with her fifth goal of the season on a power play at 4:59. Six minutes later,
Jaci Reinke took a pass from
Sam Berger and slipped her second goal of the season into the net to give HU a 2-1 lead. But the Oles came back with a power play marker at 15:50 to send the game into overtime.
The Pipers went on the attack in overtime, firing four shots on goal. Verleye's fourth goal of the year ended the drama, making for a happy trip home. With the goal, Verleye moved into seventh place all-time with 55 career points.
Hamline outshot St. Olaf, 31-30, for the game. Koehn led the way with seven. Reinke was next on the scoresheet with five.
The teams will meet again Saturday night at Oscar Johnson Arena. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
