Box Score Charlie Adams continued to give St. Thomas fits, scoring a pair of first period goals against his old team. However, it proved not to be enough as the nationally ranked Tommies rallied for two third period goals and then scored with 10 seconds left in overtime to hand the Pipers an agonizing 4-3 loss. The Pipers remain in the playoff hunt, tied for sixth place with St. John's with 13 points on a 3-2-3 record (7-5-4 overall). St. Thomas, which won 4-1 on Friday, moved into a tie for first place with 18 points.
Hamline started strong Saturday, jumping to a 3-1 lead after one period. In addition to Adams, who transferred to Hamline after playing at UST last year,
Jaycob McCombs (pictured) also scored as part of an onsalught in the first 10 minutes of the game.
The score remained at 3-1 well into the third period. UST scored twice 24 seconds apart to force what would prove to be a wide open extra session. Each team had four shots on goal in the OT with the Tommies' Alex Altenbernd getting the winner 10 seconds before the sides were headed to a shootout.
Hamline remains on the road next weekend with a series at the team that is tied with the Tommies for first place -- Concordia. the teams play in Moorhead Friday night (7:00 p.m.) and Saturday (2:00 p.m.)
