Sammons Becomes Hamline Women's Basketball All-Time Leading Scorer

Box Score Jordan Sammons became Hamline's all-time leading women's basketball scorer but the Pipers fell to a late surge and dropped a 72-64 decision at Concordia. The senior guard, who passed Mary Wilkowski (2007-11) with a jumper late in the second half. She now has 1,665 points for her career at HU. 

On this afternoon, however, Sammons shared equal billing with sophomore guard Chloe Graves, who erupted for a career high 25 points (including five three-pointers) and almost single handedly kept the Pipers in the game. Chelsey Bonsante added 14 as Hamline fell to 9-8 overall on the season, 4-6 in the MIAC.

Bonsante and Sammons hit jumpers to start the game and give HU an early 4-0 lead. Concordia responded with nine unanswered points and went on to a 33-28 halftime edge. They pushed the margin to nine early in the second half at 40-31. HU pushed back hard and grabbed a 49-46 lead on Graves' three-pointer with 10:56 remaining. But the Cobbers scored the next eight points. HU, bidding for its first sweep ever over Concordia, got no closer than three the rest of the game. 

Hamline remains on the road with a game at St. Mary's Wednesday. Game time in Winona is 7:30 p.m.
