Box Score For 40 minutes, Hamline's women's hockey team gave powerful St. Thomas all they could handle. The Pipers rebounded from allowing an early goal to take a 2-1 lead on tallies by
Jessica Goldberg and
Haleigh Bolton. Goalie
Katie Beckmann was holding firm as well, kicking out 27 shots.
But the Tommies were relentless and broke free for three third period goals to defeat HU, 5-2, Saturday at Oscar Johnson Arena.
UST struck less than three minutes into the game only to see Goldberg and Bolton scored 63 secons apart to push the Pipers in front. The Tommies, who have just once in MIAC play, responded with a goalie late in the period to tie the game at 2 -- a results that lasted until four minutes into the final frame. UST added two later goals and the Pipers dropped to 3-12-2 on the season, 1-7-2 in the MIAC.
Beckmann was busy all night, making 41 saves in all.
Hamline is home for five of their next seven games. Concordia visits next weekend for a two-game series. The teams play Friday night at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
