Box Score Hamline's women's hockey team fell into an early hole and couldn't climb out in a 6-2 loss to Concordia Saturday at Oscar Johnson Arena.
Shelby Teal and
Chelsea Koehn (17) scored the Piper goals but it was too late as HU fell to 3-14-2 overall, 1-9-2 in the MIAC.
The Cobbers came out gunning and jumped to a 4-0 first period lead. Teal started the Piper comeback when she took a pass from Koehn at 9:56 of the second period. The Cobbers then scored a pair of goals to make it 6-1 with Koehn replying for HU on a power play marker at 19:48.
Jordan Verleye drew an assist on the play for her 62nd career point, moving her into a a tie with
Emily Dusold (2004-08) for fifth place all-time.
Mary Shefveland had 33 saves in goal, including one on a second period penalty shot. It was the second time this season Shefveland had turned aside a penalty shot. She also snuffed out a Gustavus Adolphus try November 21.
Hamline returns to action next Thursday, February 5 when they face St. Benedict in St. Cloud. Game time is 7:15 p.m. The teams meet on Friday, February 6 at Oscar Johnson at 7:00 p.m.
