Box Score A couple of weeks did wonders for senior RBÂ
Austin Duncan. The New Orleans, LA native, one of a dozen seniors honored before the game, stretched his career records for touchdowns and rushing yards with a 4 TD, 154 yard effort in the Pipers' 35-26 loss to Augsburg.Â
Justice Spriggs threw for 185 yards for Hamline, who fell to 3-6 overall, 1-6 in the MIAC.Â
Duncan, who had been hampered for several weeks with an injury, got the Pipers off and running with a five yard dash in the first quarter. The Auggies replied with three six-pointers but missed the extra point every time. Duncan got the Pipers closer with a four yard run. TheÂ
Kale Wurdeman extra point cut the margin to 18-14 at halftime.Â
Augsburg was 26-14 in the third quarter when Duncan struck again from four yards out to make it 25-20. The Auggies, however, blocked the extra point tr4y and returned the loose ball for a two-point defensive return.
Hamline shook that one off to force a fumble at the Augsburg 27 in the fourth quarter. Two plays later, Duncan rumbled in from seven yards out to make it 28-26. Spriggs then connected withÂ
Philip Sherman for a two-point conversion but the score was nullified by a penalty. The second try didn't work and the Auggies scored one more time to clinch the verdict.Â
In addition to Duncan and Spriggs' work on offense, WRÂ
Jamian Maes caught five passes for 62 yards.Â
Darrian Smith had a big game on defense for the Pipers with a game high 13 tackles.Â
Hamline finishes the season next Saturday at Carleton. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
