Box Score They were dangerous in the back court ... and the front court. As a result, they showed the way for Hamline's men's basketball team in a solid 79-59 victory over Macalester at Hutton Arena in the conference opener for both teams.

Dylan See-Rockers (pictured) led a three-pronged attack of the Piper guards with 16 points and tied for the team lead with five rebounds. Quinton Garvis  and Zach Smith were close behind with 14 points apiece as the Pipers won their second game in a row to improve to 3-2 overall. Smith was also in a giving mood, handing out a game (and career) high seven assists.

The Pipers blistered the Scots early, connecting on 61.5 per cent of their shots (16-26) to bursting out to a 45-29 halftime lead. They picked up where they left off at the start of the second half, scoring the first 12 points and expanding their margin to 66-33 with 13:37 left. Things cooled down a bit but HU was in total charge the rest of the way. In all 17 HU players saw action. For the night, Hamline finished with 51 per cent from the field (27-53) and an impressive 15-20 from the free throw line.

HU will take a brief break from the MIAC wars this Saturday when they play at UW-River Falls. Game time is 5:00 p.m. The Pipers then have two big games in the MIAC next week -- against St. John's at Hutton (Wednesday, December 9, 7:00 p.m.) and St. Olaf (Saturday, December 12, 1:00 p.m.).
