Box Score Jesse Kessler had a goal and an assist but it wasn't enough as the Piper men's team fell, 4-2, at St. Thomas Friday night.Â
The sophomore blueliner (pictured) started a play that ended with
Mitch Hall scoring at 9:17 of the second period to open the scoring. The Tommies responded quickly, scoring three goals in a four minute segment to take a 3-1 lead into the final frame.Â
Hamline, however, refused to go away quietly.Â
Brandon Zurn set up Kessler for a power play goal with just 2:37 gone in the third period. UST came back with a shorthanded goal at 12:47 to salt the game away.Â
Justin Quale kicked out 35 shots but took the defeat in goal. The Pipers fired 35 shots at the UST net with Zurn leading the way with seven.
Hamline dropped to 4-4-2 overall, 1-3-1 in the MIAC. The Tommies improved to 6-3-2, 4-1-0 in the MIAC. The teams will face off against each other again on Saturday night at Oscar Johnson. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
