Box Score Chelsey Bonsante (23) fired in 18 points and J
ordan Sammons added her MIAC leading 10th double double of the season with 15 points and 11 rebounds. But it couldn't overcome a cold shooting night as Hamline's women's basketball team lost 67-55 at Bethel. The Pipers shot just 25 per cent overall but stayed within two points of the homestanding Royals until the final eight minutes of the game.
Sammons connected for 13 of her points in the first half as HU shook off an early nine-point deficit to crawl within 30-27 at halftime. The MIAC leader in scoring also added to her lead in steals with a game high five.
Bonsante picked up the cudgel in the second session with three three-pointers and a dozen points.
Alex Peterson continued her excellent freshman campaign with a team high 12 rebounds -- 10 of which came in the second half. But the Royals blocked 15 shots and Hamline dropped back to an even .500 at 10-10 overall on the season. They stand 5-8 in the MIAC.
HU is back in action Saturday when they travel to Macalester for a 1:00 P.M. game.
