Those who do not know history ...

Mark Volker proved the old adage that history repeats itself is true in sport. For the second year in a row, the Cambridge, Minn. native has won a MIAC Indoor Men's Field Athlete of the Week. Volker earned the hinor because he victorious in the pole vault at the Kilt Classic held at Macalester last Friday. 

Volker's winning vault took him to new heights in 2015, as he cleared the bar at 15-5.75, or 4.72 meters. Not only was that good for first place, but it's now ranked first in the conference and 26th nationally. Volker is the only MIAC pole vaulter to clear 15-3 or higher in 2015. Volker will be seeded first in this weekend's MIAC Championships in Moorhead, where he returns as the defending pole vault champion. (He took the title with a 15 -1 1/2 effort.) The pole vault competition is expected to start at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7.
