Track & Field Begins Indoor Season Strong at UST Invite

SAINT PAUL, Minn. --- Hamline men's and women's track and field turned in a strong showing at the St. Thomas Invitational Friday evening, highlighted by multiple podium finishes, personal records, and nationally ranked marks across the sprints, jumps, and throws.

On the men's side, freshman Dre Dunkins led the sprinters with a ninth-place finish in the 60 meters (7.26) and followed it up with a third-place run in the 200 meters (24.43). Isaiah Watson delivered one of the top performances of the meet by placing second in the long jump at 6.60m, a mark that ranks inside the top 100 in Division III. In the field events, senior Austin Schloeder won the pole vault with a clearance of 4.42m, moving into the national top 50. The throwers were equally consistent, led by Doug Gill's third-place finish in the weight throw (14.03m) and Eddie Herman's fourth-place effort in the shot put (13.21m).

The women were paced by senior Lexi Brainer, who posted a pair of standout performances. Brainer placed third in the shot put with a personal-best throw of 12.46m and followed with a runner-up finish in the weight throw at 15.94m, a mark that ranks among the top 15 in Division III. On the track, Aliyah Robran placed third in the 200 meters (27.61) and added a top-10 finish in the 60-meter hurdles. Brooke Baumann continued her versatile weekend with a second-place finish in the 800 meters (2:30.84) and additional points in the shot put. In the jumps, freshman Mabel Badejo recorded a sixth-place finish in the long jump at 5.21m, earning a nationally ranked mark, while Savannah Brown led the pole vaulters with a third-place clearance of 3.05m.

Overall, the meet showcased Hamline's depth across events, with strong contributions from both veterans and newcomers as the Pipers continue to build momentum early in the indoor season.
