4/24/2015 1:59:00 PM

It was a performance fit for prime time. Hamline's men's track and field team sparked under the lights at Macalester Thursday night, finishing in second place in a 16 team field at the annual Mac Twilight Meet.

The Pipers recorded 10 top five finishes and two sixth place efforts in amassing 93.5 points, trailing only Division II Minnesota-Duluth (104). HU finished ahead of MIAC rivals Macalester, St. Thomas, Bethel, St. John's, Carleton, St. Olaf and Augsburg.

Speedster Tom Larson had the lone wins of the day, topping the field in the 100 Meters (10.93) and the 200 Meters (22.22). The latter is the fastest time this year by a MIAC runner in this event. The 4 x 100 Relay quartet of Larson, Derrick Mora, Jordan Lein and Nathan Huss came in second by a tenth of second (49.50). Mark Volker was the top D-III finisher in the Pole Vault (15-1). Jacob Pederson was third in the Long Jump with a career best 21-2 effort (seventh in the MIAC). Pederson was also the top D-IIIer in the 400 Meters, coming in fourth (49.97). Isaac Krause continued his excellent spring with a 1:55.97 clocking in the 800 Meters that landed him in fourth place.

Rex Gould (16.08) and Eric Hanson (16.27) went 4-5 in the 110 Hurdles. MIAC Men's Field AOW Chase Duwenhoegger was fifth in the Shot Put (47-9), just ahead of fellow frosh Travis Jacobson (47- 1 1/2). Cole Konczal was sixth in the 1500 Meter Run (4:11.36).
