W Hockey Falls to Late CC Flurry

1/16/2016 5:50:00 PM

Box Score This time of year, we know all about flurries. It was a flurry of a different sort that did in the Hamline women's hockey team Saturday afternoon in Moorhead.

Concordia scored two goals just 69 seconds apart late in the third period to frustrate the Pipers and deal them a 3-2 loss. Dana Almquist, back in action for the weekend series after missing a month with injuries, staked HU to a lead, converting a Britni DelCastillo feed 2:32 into the game. The lone goal stood into the third period when CC tied things at 4:18. 45 seconds later, Brede Postier (7), one of the top first year players in the league, scored her fourth of the season and it appeared Hamline would get a big road win.

CC, however, struck back and scored twice to sneak away with the win. Jessica Cole had a solid game in the nets, recording 36 saves. Postied led Hamline's 22 shot attack with five.

The Pipers are 6-7-2 overall. Their 3-4-1 MIAC mark has them tied with St. Mary's for sixth place in the MIAC, just two points behind Augsburg and Gustavus (both are future foes).

Ironically, Hamline's next series is against the Cardinals. The teams play Friday night in Winona and then return to Oscar Johnson on Saturday, January 23 at 2:00 p.m.
