Box Score The Hamline women's basketball team found out what 10 other schools already knew -- Wartburg is very, very good. The No. 8 rated Knights pushed their record to 11-0 with an 85-41 defeat of the Pipers in the opening round of the Wartburg Holiday Tournament in Waverly, Iowa Thursday afternoon.
Chloe Graves continued her march up the ladder in the Piper record book with a team high 12 points. The senior guard now has 975 for her career and ranks 12th all-time. She added a pair of assists and now has 294, four away from Nikki Klinck's school record. She is also fifth all-time in three pointers with 128 and needs just one more successful free throw to become the eighth player in school history to have converted 200 times from the charity stripe.
In addition to Graves,
Alaina Quaranta scored nine points and
Kaeli Stayer nailed a pair of three pointers for six.
Morgen Coleman was the top rebounder with seven and
Reilly Geistfeld added six.
The Knights jumped out early, grabbing a 27-10 lead after a quarter, stretching it to 52-22 by halftime.
Hamline, now 4-6 overall, will face Wis-La Crosse, who fell 67-38 to Washington (Mo.) in the tournament's second game, on Friday at 1 p.m.
