Box Score As the picture above shows, it was a night for defenses at Hutton Arena Wednesday. Hamline held Concordia's powerful women's basketball team to just 29.1 per cent from the field. Unfortunately, the Cobbers were alaso offensive about playing defense and had enough to subdue the Pipers, 47-34.
Neither team could wriggle from each other in a game that was tight from the opening tap.
The visitors jumped to a 5-0 lead and pushed it to 11-5 when Tia Diggins responded with a pair of baskets to finish the first quarter with a two-point deficit at 11-9. By halftime, it was 22-19.Â
In the third quarter, HU chocked off the Cobbers without a point for the first 7:33, scoring seven of their own for a 24-22 edge. CC came to life quickly with a 12-2 run that gave them a 33-26 cushion after three frames.Â
HU could get no closer than five the rest of the way.Â
Chelsey Bonsante and Chloe Graves led the HU offensed with eight points apiece. Bonsante and Emily Behrman also were tops in rebounds with five each. Graves and Behrman had three assists apiece.Â
Hamline is now 3-19 overall, 1-14 in the MIAC. They travel to Gusdtavus Adolphus Saturday for the second game of a men's-women's doubleheader. The women's game is scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m.
