Reinke Pair Lifts Pipers Over Wildcats

2/13/2016 11:21:00 PM

Box Score Jaci Reinke snapped the scoring slump for the Hamline women's hockey team ... twice. The junior scored 22 seconds into the game to give Hamline an early lead and then came back for a second goal midway in the third period and that was enough to send the Pipers to a 2-1 win over St. Catherine at Drake Arena Saturday night.

HU improved to 9-12-2 overall and 5-9-1 in the MIAC with the win.

Reinke wasted little time ending Hamline's three-game scoring drought. Her unassisted goal stood up until the Wildcats tied the game late in the second period. At 10:18 of the third, Reinke untied the game, finishing off a three-way play with Brede Postier and Melanie Bartenstein. HU goalie Jessica Cole took it from there, recording 19 saves for the win.

Hamline wraps up its first season under head coach Natalie Darwitz next weekend with a home and home series against Gustavus Adolphus. The teams face off on Friday, February 19 at Oscar Johnson Arena and then complete the schedule Saturday in St. Peter at 2:00 p.m.
