Hamline's men's track/field team dominated the field events to take first place the Macalester Pre-MIAC meet February 26. Mitchell Maday led a 1-2-3-4-5 finish in the Shot Put with a 16.01 meter throw. He was followed closely by Eric Dols (15.99), Travis Jacobson (15.98), Chase Duwenhoegger (15.91) and Pierce Heston (14.80). Jacobson also was second in the Weight Throw (16.78 m). Â Joe Matheson added to the field assault with a winning pole vault leap of 4.55m. Sam Gatton was second in the High Jump 91.82) and Bakari Jackson was third in the Long Jump (6.03).
The Piper runners did their part as well.Â
Thane Widmer (52.19) and Matt Pratt (53.26) went 1-2 in th 400 meters. Nathaniel Jacobson (1:24.50) and Gatton did the same in the 600 meters (1:25.42). Dylan Olson reigned supreme in the 60 Hurdles (8.63) while Sam Jewson was second in the 800 Meters (1:59.08). The 4 x 400 relay team of Jewson, Kyle Merhof, Ronnie Stimson and Jacobson conquered the field in 3:35.47. The 4 x 200 quartet of Jacob Prouty, Sam Yankey, Clay Wimmer and Nathan Huss finished third (1:32.96)Â
This was all in preparation for next weekend's MIAC Conference Meet at Carleton College in Northfield. Hamline's total of 159 points bested Bethel, Gustavus Adolphus, Macalester and Augsburg.Â
