Men's Hockey Fires 43 Shots In Loss to Auggies

2/6/2016 9:50:00 PM

Box Score 43 shots on goal is a pretty impressive number. However, Augsburg goalie Jordyn Kaufer came up with an even better number -- 43 saves.

As a result, the Hamline men's hockey team lost 2-0 to the Auggies Saturday night at Oscar Johnson Arena. Brandon Zurn had seven shots and Jesse Kessler had five but it went all for naught as HU dropped to 8-11-4 overall and 5-8-1 in the MIAC. Justin Quale recorded 25 saves in goal, allowing only a shorthanded goal and a two man advantage marker in the middle period.

The news wasn't all bad for the Pipers. St. Mary's remained just two points of Hamline for fifth place -- the final playoff position -- after a 5-2 loss at home Saturday to Gustavus. The Cardinals will play their final two games of the season next weekend whne the host St. John's in Winona. The Pipers have a bye next weekend. They finish the year February 19-20 with a home and home series against Gustavus.
