Box Score It's not a school record. But it was the next best thing. Dana Almquist scored seven goals -- one short of the school record -- in Hamline's 12-10 lacrosse loss to Augsburg Tuesday night. The Pipers held a 9-6 second half lead before the Auggies scored five straight goals.
Hamline is 4-4 in its first varsity season under head coach Karen Heggernes.
Almquist, a sophomore from Stillwater, Minn., scored three straight goals to help HU build a 4-1 lead in the first half. The Auggies retaliated with four of the next five goals to tie the score but Almquist (12) broke free again to make it 6-5.
Augsburg tied it up 19 seconds before halftime.
HU jumped ahead by three goals only to see the Auggies grab an 11-9 lead. Almquist nailed her seventh of the night (and 16th of the season) but that was as close as Hamline would get. In addition to Almquist, Maddie Brown (who set the school standard with eight and leads the team with 23 markers), Jordan Nielsen and Lexus Tatge scored for HU.
The Pipers will play their first game ever at Klas Field on Tuesday, April 5 against Northwestern. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
