Box Score At the start of the season, Hamline coach
Ted Zingman had one simple hope -- good health for his team. Three games into the season, HU is bursting with good health -- and are making opponents sick in the process.
On Wednesday, it was
Malya Hirshkowitz's turn. The senior forward scored for the third straight game and it proved to be all HU would need for a 1-0 victory over Wisconsin-Stout. The game was played at Chippewa Falls (WI) High School because Stout's field was underwater.
The goal came just 12:39 into the game.
Kaley Roberts fed Hirshkowitz, who chipped the ball over goalkeeper Lynn Johnson to tie her career high achieved in her freshman and sophomore seasons. (Last year, she was held to one goal in just 12 games.)
HU held the edge most of the night in improving their record to 3-0 overall. The Pipers held an 18-7 edge in shots. But HU goalie
Amy Ramras was there when needed, most notably in the 75th minute when she stretched out to make a save and drive the ball off the goalpost. Ramras finished with three saves to earn her 14th career victory, second most in school history. She added to her career leading total for shutouts with 13.
The Pipers go for four in a row Saturday, September 10 against Wisconsin-River Falls at Paterson Field. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
