Box Score They spread their offense out among five different scorers. The goalie (Justin Quale) held tough when needed with 23 saves. The Hamline men's hockey team's 5-3 victory over Bethel in Blaine Friday night had major ramifications on many fronts. The biggest of which saw the Pipers jump two places into the third spot in the MIAC. HU is 6-4-1 overall. The 19 points vaulted them past St. Mary's (18) and St. John's (17), both of whom lost on Friday.

The highest scoring team in the league, the Pipers grabbed the lead early when Tommy Hall and Mitch Hall scored goals eight minutes apart in the first period. In what became the trend for the rest of the night, the Royals got back within a goal before the period ended. Russ Jordan got that goal back with his league leading 14th goal of the year in the first minute of the middle period. (Jordan also had an assist and leads the MIAC in points with 26.)  It stayed 3-1 well into the third period when the Royals tallied to get within one again. Jaycob McCombs (pictured) made it 4-2 midway in the period but the Royals weren't done and made things tight again with a goal at 14:38.

BU pulled goalie Joe Sheppard with 1:14 left but the move backfired when Jesse Kessler found the empty net at 19:28.

Hamline is now 9-8-1 overall. They will face the Royals again on Saturday night at Oscar Johnson Arena. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
