W Basketball Rally Falls Just Short to Carleton

Box Score Reilly Geistfeld scored 14 points and Alaina Quaranta added 12 (all in the second half) but a late Hamline women's basketball rally fell just short in a 62-55 loss to Carleton Saturday afternoon at Hutton Arena. Chloe Graves delivered 10 points and a game high five assists and three steals for HU, which is now 5-14 overall, 2-10 in the MIAC.

It was the eighth double digit game this season for the freshman, who is now averaging 10.1 points per game. The St. James, Minn. native also leads the team in rebounds with 122.

A slow start was too much for the Pipers to handle. HU trailed 32-16 at halftime but came out firing in the third quarter, cutting the Knight lead to 46-37 with 10 minutes remaining. Kaeli Stayer started the final session off on the right foot with a three-pointer that made it 46-40. The margin stayed between six and nine points until Quaranta drilled a long one to get HU within four points at 59-55. The Knights came back with three free throws to take the verdict. 

Ivannie Robertson had six rebounds for Hamline with Geistfeld, Graves and Morgen Coleman adding five each. 

HU remains home next Wednesday, Feb. 1. They will face St. Mary's at Hutton Arena. game time is 7:00 p.m.
