Box Score The life of a backup quarterback is such that you always have to be prepared.
Jake Kissling, a sophomore, got such a chance Saturday and took advantage to register a 23-yard run, Hamline's best rush of the day in an 84-0 loss to St. Thomas at Klas Field Saturday. The Stoughton, Wis. native took over at quarterback for the second half. Playing on a wet field and a receiving corps depleted by in-game injuries, Kissling (19) only threw the ball three times. But his 23 yard dash in the middle of the third quarter was one of the offensive highlights for the Pipers.
The other play of note was an early shovel pass from
Justice Spriggs to
Josiah Harris that went for 52 yards. Harris was the Pipers' leading receiver with five grabs for 59 yards.
The Tommies took advantage of turnovers and ran two punts for touchdowns to complement their offense.
Dalton Pakkala had a busy afternoon, making 14 tackles.
Luke Trudell was also a major presence on defense with eight stops. Both players had five solos.
Hamline (2-5, 1-4 MIAC) will look to retain possession of The Hammer when they visit Augsburg (3-5, 1-5 MIAC) on Saturday, October 28. Game time in Minneapolis is 1:00 p.m.
