Box Score Reilly Geistfeld moved effortlessly from one sport to the other. 18 days after her volleyball season ended, Geistfeld lit up the basketball court at Crown with 24 points and 11 rebounds in the Pipers' season-opening 69-65 loss to the Storm Wednesday night.

The Pipers started slow, trailing 21-8 after a quarter. A strong second quarter cut the margin to 40-31 by halftime. HU came out firing in the third stanza, using a 19-4 run in a six-minute span to grab a 50-44 lead. The hometown Storm, however, were able to get within a bucket at 52-50 after three.
A 9-1 run to start the fourth quarter gave Crown a six-point lead at 59-53. The Pipers then put on their own rally, tying the game at 63 on a pair of Geistfeld free throws with 2:02 left in the game. The Storm responded with free throws of their own and held off HU at the end for the win. In addition to Geistfeld and Stayer, Jaelin Jones, another volleyballer, contributed seven points off the bench and newcomer Molly Wampler had a game high seven assists.
Hamline is busy this week. The Pipers play at Northwestern Friday, November 17 at 5:30 p.m. HU visits North Central in Minneapolis the next afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
