Box Score Regular followers of the Hamline men's basketball (and, for that matter, the MIAC) know that HU senior forward
Dylan See-Rockers is one of the top rebounders in the league. On Saturday, at Gus Young Court in St. Peter, he reminded folks he can score points as well. The Albert Lea, Minn. native fired in 15 to lead the Piper offense in a 65-59 loss to Gustavus Adolphus.
TC Robinson was close behind with 14 points with
Isaac Brooks contributing 11 and
Jay Betts 10 for Hamline, which is now 3-4 overall and 1-3 in the MIAC.
In addition to the scoring numbers, Betts recorded three steals and
Nick Powell had a team high five rebounds.
The Pipers broke away from a 6-all tie to score five unanswered points and keep up the attack to grab a 30-26 edge after 20 minutes of play. The Gusties, now 4-0 in MIAC play, started the second half on a 20-4 run to grab a 12-point lead. The Pipers chipped away gradually, getting within three with a minute left on a Betts layup. GAC hit a three-pointer for a six-point lead at 63-57 but
Zach Smith replied with a layup to make it 63-59. GAC hit a pair of free throws for the final margin. Smith had eight points in the game and needs just two to reach the 1100 mark for his career.
Smith's next chance to hit that mark comes Wednesday, December 13 when the Pipers head to Collegeville to face St. John's. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
