The HU men's track/field teams ran, threw and jumped their way to four wins at the Hamster Invite meet held at Macalester Feb. 3.
Thane Widmer was in on a pair of wins. The junior started things in the right direction, sprinting to victory in the 60 Meter Dash in 7.13 seconds. Later, he teamed with
Sam Gatton,
Alexander Ozark and
Jordan Grier for a triumph in the 4 x 400 Relay.
Jake Carlson leaped to victory in the Long Jump in 20-8.50.
Eric Dols led a 1-2-3 finish with a 54-3 1/4 throw in the Shot Put.
Chase Duwenhoegger and
Travis Jacobson, his All-American cohorts from last spring , were close behind in second and third place respectively. Dols also took a third place in the Weight Throw.
The Pipers received secone place efforts from Ozark (600 Meters),
Frank Gustafson (800 Meters),
Bakari Jackson (Triple Jump) and Gatton (High Jump).
As a team, Hamline finished second among four competitors with 134 points. St. John's was first with 200. Macalester took third with 118 and St. Thomas had 26.
The Pipers are back in action on February 11 at the annual Meet of the Hearts at Carleton College in Northfield.
