3/12/2017 1:00:00 PM

Box Score The Hamline lacrosse team showed they can play defense as well as score goals. The Pipers put the deep freeze on high scoring Dubuque Sunday, holding the Spartans in check for an 8-3 win at Klas Field.

It was the lowest scoring game in Hamline's brief lacrosse history. It also kept the Pipers perfect on  their home turf. Hamline is 8-0 all-time at home, 3-0 this season.

HU improved to 3-1 overall with the non-conference win. On a cold, raw day, Lindsay Jackman warmed the hearts of HU supporters with a goal 9:04 into the game. The Spartans, who had scored 69 goals in their first five games of the season, tied matters with 7:03 left in the half. Radian Lenz untied the game for good two minutes later with her first of two goals on the day. Dana Almquist, the team's leading scorer, added another for a 3-1 edge at halftime.

HU stoked the offense for four goals int he first 20 minutes of the second half to put the game out of reach. Almquist improved her season total to 11 with two more tallies while Lenz and Sydney Dynneson added solos. Lexus Tatge ended the scoring in the final minute of play.

At the other end of the field, Molly Dionne (5) recorded five saves to earn the win. In three home games this week, HU outscored their foes by a 47-8 margin.

Hamline will take its 1-0 MWLC record on the road next weekend to face conference foes Illinois Tech (Saturday, 2:00 p.,m.) and Concordia (WI) on Sunday at noon.
